Q: I have a project with MMBTU given as the energy type, what utility abbreviation should I use when creating an MT1 file?
A: Since MMBTU is a unit of energy, much like therms, and not a volume unit, like CCF or MCF, use G as the utility abbreviation. Therefore you must use 1,000,000 in the conversion factor column.
In Metrix, if you want to see the data in MMBTUs, then be sure to add a rate to the meter. In the conversion factors field, in the rate, change it from 100,000 Btu/Therm to 1,000,000 Btu per MMBTU.
