Metrix » Tuning
Q: What do underlined bills mean?

A:  The underlined bills are for months that Metrix is 'suggesting' you should exclude. That is, a stronger set of statistical indicators is possible to obtain without them. Its up to you whether or not that is a good idea. Generally speaking, you do want to have a full 12 months included in a reference year, or as close to that as possible, unless there was an obvious outlier like re-filling a pool, or a plant shut-down. You wouldn't want to throw the baby out with the bath water by deselecting 11 out of 12 months in search of phenomenal statistical indicators, they would then have no meaning. Give it a try, un-check a month that has an underlined bill and you will see that the stats improve. Think of it as a hint or pointer for months that dont fit as well as the others.

Remember though, these are subject to the balance point which is something that metrix might change when you press the auto-tune button. Its possible for there to be multiple convergence points when solving for a fit line. Sometimes there will be a mathematical "solution" thats way off in nowhere land using a 44deg bal point. Its just a program, we ask it to find a solution, so it does. We want one "answer" but there could be more; our job is to make sure it make senses.
