Q: Demand is tuned with 'Htg DT' and 'Clg DT', instead of HDD/CDD. How are these calculated?
A: Instead of Heating Degree Days and Cooling Degree Days, Demand is tuned with Htg DT and Clg DT. Here's how they are calculated:
How is Cooling DT Calculated?
If Max Delta T Demand Tuning is checked:
1. For each day in the billing period, averages (of the high and low temperature) are calculated.
2. For the billing period, we take a maximum of all of these averages. Let’s call it daily maximum average temperature.
3. Clg DT for a bill is the daily maximum average temperature minus the cooling balance point temperature.
If Max Delta T Demand Tuning is NOT checked, then
1. For the billing period associated with each bill, BillAveT = average of the all of the high and low temperatures for all of the days in the billing period.
2. Clg DT = BillAveT - Cooling balance point.
How is Heating DT Calculated?
If Max Delta T Demand Tuning is checked:
1. For each day in the billing period, averages (of the high and low temperature) are calculated.
2. For the billing period, we take a minimum of all of these averages. Let’s call it daily minimum average temperature.
3. Htg DT for a bill is the heating balance point temperature minus the daily minimum average temperature
If Max Delta T Demand Tuning is NOT checked, then:
1. For the billing period associated with each bill, BillAveT = average of the all of the high and low temperatures for all of the days in the billing period.
2. Htg DT = Heating balance point - BillAveT.
